Fun Fact: I’m a biomanufacturing superstar. I can turn sugar into lots of important things, such as food, perfumes and medicine.

Superpower: I love super hot water 

Lives in: In underwater volcanos 

Fun fact: I make special tools (known as enzymes) that help scientists in their lab. These tools require a lot of heat, just like me!

Chlamydomonas nivalis

Superpower: I make my own natural sunscreen 

Lives in: Snowy mountains and fields 

Fun Fact: I turn snow pink and red by producing my own pigments. Scientists are teaching me to use sunlight to produce things like biofuels for cars and healthy, natural food colouring.

Escherichia coli (E. coli)

Superpower: I am a tiny factory that can make lots and lots of things 

Lives in: Tummies of people and animals 

Fun Fact: I’m a famous tiny factory! Sometimes I can make you sick, but scientists can also give me new instructions in the form of DNA to make things we need, such as insulin.
